These poetically trippy images are featured in the forthcoming issue of Zina Cava #2, where the theme is self-help. They’re from Toward the One by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, whose father founded Universal Sufism as a way to spread Sufism to the West, and reflect the Sufi emphasis on dhikr, the practice of remembering the divine. I certainly feel better when I am reminded that I am the cosmos. These pics are great pin-ups if you run a yoga studio or cosmic therapy institute. The name Sufi is also a kind of fashion statement: one of the origins of the word is “suf,” Arabic for “wool,” which refers to the simple cloaks worn by the religion’s early practitioners.
